When you join the network marketing company Melaleuca, I am sure that you do it because you want to succeed and even become financially independent - because that is what you can create for yourself by joining this industry. Unfortunately the company will not tell you what you need to know in order to grow your Melaleuca business. They want you to work your "warm market" meaning that you should convince your family and friends that these products are SO amazing and the opportunity is even more outstanding.
You are told that everyone is your prospects and therefore you should get out there and show this to everyone you know! No other industry believes that EVERYONE is their prospects and no other industry uses these techniques. The reason for that is very simple! Everyone is NOT your prospect and 95 % of the people that are joining the network marketing industry are failing because of these techniques. So, using these techniques does NOT make any sense. And even though you DO have the greatest product EVER and you love it yourself, it is NOT for everyone and it never will be.
You can not grow your Melaleuca business by working your warm market, and it will for sure not make you successful handing out business cards and all that stuff to promote yourself - actually the only thing these are promoting is the company. So, why not do things right? Well, in order to succeed with your Melaleuca business, you have to learn HOW to properly prospect. And always remember that your prospects won't ever be everyone.
Try and imagine this situation: One of your friends comes to you while you are in your front yard. He has some kind of bottle in his hand and with much excitement in his voice he says "Man THIS is some GREAT juice, it is SO awesome, it tastes fantastic, it gives you SO much energy, it's the best jouice EVER, you should really try it out and buy a few bottles now." Okay, it must be pretty powerful, since he is so excited, so you tell him that you'll think about it and get back to him. But this answer is not enough for your friend and he says "No, no no there is absolutely nothing to think about, this IS the ultimate healthy juice, you can't get it anywhere else - you HAVE to buy some bottles right now!" Still interested? Well, I wouldn't be, that's for sure.
Now picture this instead: You are still sitting on your front yard when another friend comes to you with a bottle in his hand saying "Man this juice is really good, not only does it taste good, I also get much more energy when I drink it." That sounds like a pretty awesome juice, and you will most likely begin asking him buying questions, such as "Where did you by the juice" and "What did the it cost?" The friend will answer the questions, and as he is about to walk away he says "This is really a great juice and it has certainly helped me, if you want some as well, just say so - I can highly recommend it." And he walks away!
Take a moment and compare the two situations above. Who of those two friends would you rather be? I don't think I'm wrong by saying that most would want to be the second friend? Unfortunately, what Melaleuca wants you to be is the first friend. I hope that you can see and understand why this is SO far from what marketing is really about and it is NOT how you will succeed.
Markerting is all about knowing your audience and it has never been about convincing people that they just REALLY need what you have. To prospect properly, you should find people who already have a desire, a want or a need for what your company is providing - this way you will be solution instead of the annoying friend. Don't you think this sounds much better? Well, growing your Melaleuca business will certainly be much more fun.
If you want to succeed with your Melaleuca business, you can! Just remember that not everyone is your prospect - all you should be is the person who fulfils a want or a need which is already there. So, once you've recognized that you have to find your target market and NOT listen to the advices you get from the company, you will be able to grow your Melaleuca business the right way and you are on your way to success.
